Time Frame
  
Phase 1: (2003-2004)
  • Collate, review and synthesize the current and evolving research. Identify gaps.
  • Hold a Canadian investigator meeting to reach consensus on the framework for discussion on the present state of our knowledge and key issues for future research
  • Lay the groundwork for an international working meeting
  
Phase 2: (2003-2005)
  • Organization of an international working meeting of investigators including health and social policy experts. A publication will be produced in a joint Canada, Europe and USA initiative.
  
Phase 3: (2005-2006)
Knowledge transfer and translation of research
  • Proposal and grant submission of an integrated research program on frailty by a network of Canadian researchers with input from managers, decision makers and older persons
  • Organization of a Canadian Consensus Conference producing:
    Guidelines for health professionals
    Policy recommendations
        - Social and health policy
        - Organization and financing of care
  • Dissemination to the Canadian and international community
